The Top 10 Hottest Christmas Toys For 2020

In the worst year ever, parents are excited to give their kids the best Christmas ever. That means tracking down and securing the hottest Christmas gifts before its too late.

The lack of normalcy and consumer spending in other sectors will be a significant driver for toy sales this year. In that regard, perhaps this year will bring about the “Tickle Me Elmo” problem of toy shortages of years past.

So check out our list of the hottest Christmas toys for 2020 and snag yours before it’s sold out.

How did we come up with the list? We checked with the experts, local toy stores, our kids and news sites to track 2020’s X-mass toy trends for this article.

1. Lego Super Mario Adventures

Arguably the most sought-after toy for 2020 Christmas is the collaboration between maker Lego and Nintendo. Lego Super Mario Adventures lets users build real-life versions of the video game levels, including boss fights. There are over a dozen different adventures to choose from. Buy one early before they are all gone.

2. Star Wars “The Child” Animatronic Edition

This is a pop culture must-have. The “Child” is also known as Baby Yoda from the hit Disney+ streaming series, “The Mandalorian.” This cute, soon to be a very popular toy makes sound effects and moves its head around. In fact, it has a motorized head, ears and eyes. Get it soon; it’s going to fly off the shelf. This is arguably the consensus top Christmas toy.

3. Present Pets

Another super-hot 2020 Christmas toy this year is Present Pets. These critters unbox themselves to reveal two random puppies programmed with sounds and actions.

“For parents that aren’t ready to buy a puppy, this is a great alternative,” says leading book store Indigo.

4. VTech KidiZoom Creator Cam

Animated backgrounds include getting chased by a T-Rex and a mission to outer space.

It comes equipped with super easy on-camera editing, creativity tools and a tripod/selfie stick.

This is a kid-friendly Christmas toy. It is not connected to the internet, so the video can only be uploaded to YouTube by parents to a computer via the included USB cable.

5. Na! Na! Na! Surprise Ultimate Surprise Rainbow Kitty

Kids get to open random fashion surprises and a Na. Na. Na doll. Half the fun is opening the toy. It’s a pom purse with a balloon that sprays confetti when it is opened, displaying the surprise doll and fashion accessories.

The doll is actually adorable! Inside the balloon are three pairs of shoes, a dress, a sweatshirt and a hat. I would also like to point out that the doll and the fashion accessories are of very high quality.

This “surprise” doll is a hot trend for Christmas toys this year. Buy one before its gone.

6. Hatchimals Pixies Riders

Hatch the heart to reveal your Pixies Rider, then unbox your Glider! What mystery items will your child discover? Each Pixies Riders duo has its own unique feature to find, Each cute Pixies Rider features fluttery wings and poseable head and legs.

Glider toys have always been a hit for Christmas toys, so it’s not hard to assume this will be “gliding” off the shelves this Christmas. Not to mention Hatchimals brand has been one of the hottest x-mass toy trends for the last couple of years.

7.  Blume Doll Series 2

These surprise dolls were sold out everywhere last year, but they are back with a new series. Kids love the too-cute flower pots that you sprinkle water on the ‘topsoil’, making your Blume Doll start to sprout. After it grows, your kiddo gets to see which cute doll with crazy foam hair they got!

Another “surprise” doll, this Christmas toy is sure to be a big hit again in 2020 just like last year.

8. Coding Critters

These toy pets bring early STEM concepts to preschool learning through 100% screen-free coding. Can your son or daughter code Ranger to play hide and seek, fetch a ball from the tennis ball launcher, or catch zip after a ride down the slide?

Being a programmer myself, it was cool to see my kid sorting out directions and variables to pass the playbook level.

Education gifts are a very on-trend Christmas toy this year with all the WFH stuff going on, so be sure to snag coding Critters before it’s sold out.

9. Squeakee the Balloon Dog

Squeakee the Balloon Robot Dog is an interactive balloon that comes to life in 60 different ways, including:

  • Teach him to sit or beg.
  • Feed Squeakee to make him pee or fart.
  • Tickle Squeakee and he’ll rollover.
  • Squeakee reacts to your voice, so let him know when he’s been a good dog.

This is a fun, cool-looking new toy that is very durable and not easily broken—highly recommended not just by me, but also by the big Christmas toy review sites.

10. Air Hogs Stunt Shot

This cool R/C (remote control) monster truck can do wheelies and flips, It is made with soft tires, and it is super lightweight so it won’t damage your house and it won’t break easily.

Ever since I was a boy, R/C cars were one of the best Christmas toys of 2020, so be sure to get this chart-busting, consensus top pick item before its gone.
